Supervisor, Echocardiology

Schedule: Full-Time | Shift Type: Day Position Overview Virtus Healthcare Staffing is seeking an experienced Supervisor of Echocardiology to join a partner's team at a Magnet designated hospital in Mission Viejo, CA. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional who will supervise and coordinate the daily operations of the Cardiology Department, ensuring efficient operations and competent skill levels.

The successful candidate will be a source of technical expertise, responsible for a variety of leadership and operational duties, in addition to all the duties of a registered Echocardiographer. This is a pivotal role that requires strong management skills, a commitment to quality improvement, and the ability to foster a culture of patient-focused care.


Qualifications

Required: • Completion of an AMA accredited Echocardiogram program (minimum of one year in length). • Upon hire: National Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (ARDMS) OR National Certification from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) OR National Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). • Upon hire: National Provider BLS – American Heart Association certification. • 2 years of recent full-time experience in Echocardiography. • 1 year of experience in an acute care hospital setting.

Preferred: • Associate's Degree in a related healthcare field. • Membership in a professional organization such as the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers or the American Society of Echocardiography. • Recent supervisor or management experience.


Key Responsibilities

Operational Oversight • Supervise and coordinate the daily operations of the Cardiology Department in conjunction with the Manager of Cardiovascular Services/Nurse Manager. • Serve as a source of technical expertise regarding equipment needs. • Ensure efficient operations and competent skill levels across the department.

Staff Management & Leadership • Oversee the recruitment and orientation of new employees. • Maintain employee files, work schedules, annual reviews, and competency testing. • Serve as a clinical leader, performing all duties of a registered Echocardiographer.

Quality Improvement & Compliance • Responsible for the development, implementation, and follow-up of the Quality Improvement (QI) program. • Ensure that all departmental activities comply with established standards.
