Virtus Healthcare Staffing seeks a dedicated Clinical Program Stroke Coordinator RN to join our partner, a leading 211-bed acute care Level I Trauma Center in Seattle, WA. Lead and Enhance Stroke Care in a Leading Trauma Center
As the Clinical Program Stroke Coordinator RN, you will collaborate with physician Stroke Directors to plan, develop, and implement the stroke program, ensuring alignment with evidence-based practices and national standards. You will play a vital role in monitoring patient care, developing guidelines, and driving quality improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with physician Stroke Directors to plan, develop, and implement the Stroke Program.
- Identify patients admitted with stroke and monitor adherence to standards of care, orders, nursing care plans, and protocols.
- Establish written guidelines (standards of care, policies, procedures, and protocols) consistent with Washington State laws, DNV, DOH, and professional organizations.
- Maintain active liaison with community, regional, and state committees, Stroke Care Committees, and professional organizations.
- Monitor the use of hospital resources for stroke care, focusing on quality parameters and improved patient outcomes.
- Develop and present quality improvement activities to organizational and regional quality committees.
- Ensure the Stroke Care Pathway is implemented within the timeframe identified in documentation standards.
- Evaluate expected outcomes that are measurable and achievable.
- Prepare, collect, and analyze data for the Stroke Program, designation process, and on-site reviews.
- Document complete and accurate information on all appropriate forms.
- Communicate effectively with stroke patients, families, physicians, and co-workers.
- Act as a patient advocate.
- Utilize resources effectively.
- Act as a liaison for and participate in research projects.
- Present and provide educational information to patients, families, allied professionals, and the general public.
- Participate in educating physicians and staff about the Stroke Program.
- Maintain established hospital policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environment, and infection control standards.
- Contribute to a positive work climate and the overall team effort.
- Enhance professional growth and development through educational programs and in-service meetings.
- Develop annual reports related to the Stroke Program.
- Complete activities to maintain and increase levels of certification related to the Stroke Program.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
- Obtain eight (8) hours of initial and annual stroke-specific education.
Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited school of nursing.
- Coursework/Training: Requirement of eight (8) hours of initial and annual stroke-specific education.
- Upon hire: Washington Registered Nurse License.
- Upon hire: National Provider BLS – American Heart Association.
- Upon hire: National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale Certificate – NIH Stroke Scale Training Course.
- Five (5) years of nursing experience.
- Two (2) years of Emergency Department or inpatient stroke experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing.
- Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited school of nursing.
- Project management experience.
