Virtus Healthcare Staffing is searching for a dynamic and experienced Director of Nursing for the Emergency Department to join our partner, a leading medical center in Tucson, AZ. This is a crucial leadership opportunity for a professional who thrives in a high-acuity environment and is passionate about driving clinical excellence. As the leader of a Level I Trauma Center, you will have 24/7 responsibility and oversight of all operations in a department with approximately 27,300 visits per year.
As the Director, you will provide leadership and support for all nursing and other designated patient care functions within the Emergency Department. You will be responsible for assessing, planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating nursing practice on a multi-unit level. Your role is vital in ensuring high-quality, safe, and appropriate nursing care, maintaining the competency of a team of approximately 60 employees, and managing resources effectively. You will also serve as a role model and advocate for the professional discipline of nursing.
Provide comprehensive oversight of all Emergency Department operations.
Lead, mentor, and advocate for a team of approximately 60 employees, including those represented by a union.
Ensure high quality, safe, and appropriate nursing care by monitoring performance and implementing best practices.
Maintain responsibility for resource management, including staffing, equipment, and budget.
Collaborate with the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and other hospital leaders to achieve departmental and organizational goals.
Possess highly effective interpersonal and communication skills to build a dynamic and cohesive team environment.
Education:
Required: An Associate’s degree from an accredited nursing school with a bachelor’s degree in a health care-related field or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Preferred: A Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or a master’s degree in a health care-related field.
Experience:
Required: A minimum of 2 years of progressive management experience in a hospital environment as a manager or a related position such as a full-time charge nurse.
Certifications:
Required: A current nursing license in the state of residence or practice. CPR certification is also required.
