Medical Staff Coordinator – Rapid City, SD

Position Overview

This role is critical in supporting the smooth and efficient operation of the medical staff. The Medical Staff Coordinator will be responsible for managing and supporting all aspects of medical staff credentialing, privileging, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Credentialing and Recredentialing:
    • Coordinate the entire credentialing and recredentialing process for medical staff, including physicians, advanced practice providers, and other licensed independent practitioners.
    • Collect, verify, and maintain accurate and up-to-date provider information, including licenses, certifications, education, and training.
    • Conduct primary source verification of licenses, certifications, and hospital affiliations.
    • Process applications for initial appointments, reappointments, and temporary privileges.
  • Privileging Management:
    • Assist in the development and maintenance of medical staff bylaws, rules, and regulations.
    • Coordinate the privileging process, including reviewing and analyzing provider applications and recommendations.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date provider privilege information in the medical staff database.
  • Compliance and Regulatory Affairs:
    • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and accreditation standards (e.g., Joint Commission, NCQA).
    • Monitor and track all required medical staff documents and deadlines.
    • Assist with the preparation for and participation in medical staff committee meetings.
  • Administrative Support:
    • Prepare and distribute meeting agendas, minutes, and reports for medical staff committees.
    • Maintain accurate and organized medical staff records and files.
    • Respond to inquiries from providers, medical staff leadership, and other departments.
    • Assist with special projects as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in medical staff coordination or credentialing in a healthcare setting.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations and accreditation standards (e.g., Joint Commission, NCQA).
  • Proficiency with credentialing software and database management.
  • Excellent organizational and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
