Virtus Healthcare Staffing is searching for a dedicated and dynamic Nurse Manager of Labor and Delivery to join our partner, a leading medical center in Seattle, WA. This is a comprehensive and high-volume Labor and Delivery department, serving a diverse patient population with equally diverse provider and caregiver teams. The campus has a Level 4 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) with 77 beds. On average, the department handles 550-600 births per month and provides care for deliveries starting from 22-23 weeks gestation. The facility includes 30 labor beds, a 9-bed OB ED, and 4 operating rooms. This unit works collaboratively with specialized teams, including MFM, Midwifery, OB, and Family Medicine, and offers a 24/7 Anesthesia, Laborist, and Neonatology service.
As the Nurse Manager, you will be accountable for the overall management and leadership of the L&D unit on a 24/7 basis. You will be responsible for all clinical and operational activities, including:
Clinical and Operational Leadership: Ensuring the provision of patient care around the clock and collaborating with the healthcare team to coordinate daily patient care delivery in accordance with professional and regulatory standards.
Staff Management and Development: Overseeing the recruitment, retention, and effective management of assigned staff. You will work to ensure a positive work environment, provide coaching and development, and assist with patient care to maintain your own clinical skills.
Quality and Performance Improvement: Developing, implementing, and monitoring unit-based quality improvement programs. You will actively collaborate with the leadership team to share accountability for quality, finance, and staffing goals.
Collaboration and Communication: Functioning as a patient advocate, clarifying ethical and legal issues, and maintaining positive working relationships with all staff and system departments.
The ideal candidate will focus on these key initiatives:
Continuing to foster a culture of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) for patients, caregivers, and providers.
Emphasizing quality metrics, including NTSV, and partnering with the RN team for sustained improvement.
Collaborating with the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) and the Perinatal Educator to implement evidence-based practice changes.
Interviewing and hiring experienced RNs, travelers, and candidates for the L&D residency/fellowship program.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing. A candidate with an ADN and a commitment to obtain a BSN within two years of hire will be considered.
A Washington Registered Nurse License is required upon hire.
A National Provider BLS from the American Heart Association is required upon hire.
A minimum of 3 years of recent experience in a related clinical area of nursing.
Preferred Qualifications:
A Master's Degree in Nursing or a related field.
A minimum of 1 year of first-line management experience.
