Virtus Healthcare Staffing is working with our partner, a Level II Trauma Center in Cumming, GA, to find a dedicated Neonatology Nurse Practitioner (NNP) to join their highly skilled NICU team. Position Overview:
As a Neonatology Nurse Practitioner, you will play a vital role in the comprehensive care of critically ill infants within the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) setting. You will conduct assessments, develop and implement treatment plans, manage advanced therapies, and collaborate closely with the healthcare team to optimize patient outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive physical examinations and ongoing assessments of neonates in the NICU.
- Develop, implement, and manage individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings and evidence-based practice.
- Provide advanced neonatal therapies and interventions, potentially including management of mechanical ventilation, ECMO support coordination, administration of inotropic support, and other critical care procedures.
- Monitor vital signs, interpret clinical data, administer medications, and order/perform diagnostic procedures as appropriate within the NNP scope of practice.
- Collaborate effectively with neonatologists, pediatric specialists, NICU nurses, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal, coordinated patient care.
- Educate parents and families on their infant's condition, treatment plan, progress, and ongoing care needs, providing compassionate support.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough documentation in the electronic health record.
Qualifications:
- Education: Master's Degree in Nursing (Required).
- License: Valid Georgia RN license (or ability to obtain) (Required).
- Certification: Board Certification as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) (Required).
- Experience: Minimum 1-2 years of experience as an NNP (Required); Experience in a Level III NICU environment (Preferred).
- Skills: Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills specific to neonatal medicine; Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with team members and families; Ability to work effectively both independently and within a collaborative, team-oriented environment (Preferred).
