Key Requirements:
- Four (4) years of clinical nursing experience related to the OR, with at least four (4) years of management, supervisory, or leadership experience.
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Master's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
- Registered Nurse License (California) required at hire.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Desired Skills:
- CNOR certification preferred.
- Master's Degree in Nursing or related field preferred.
- Experience in Magnet/shared governance preferred.
Position Overview:
The Nurse Manager – OR is responsible for overseeing the operations of the OR, ensuring that staff provide high-quality, patient-focused services that comply with local, state, and federal regulations. This leadership role involves managing resources, developing staff competencies, and continuously improving patient care outcomes.

Essential Responsibilities:
- Manage operations of the OR department, ensuring compliance with the Nursing Practice Act, The Joint Commission, and all other regulatory requirements.
- Develop and monitor budgets, optimizing the use of resources and implementing strategies to reduce costs while improving care quality.
- Lead recruitment efforts, ensuring staff are trained, hired, and maintained at the highest level of competency.
- Establish care and service standards to meet the needs of members and internal clients, continuously evaluating and refining processes to improve patient care.
- Human resource management: Oversee staff development, performance management, and safety protocols.
- Quality improvement: Develop and oversee initiatives that drive improvements in patient care outcomes and departmental operations.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of four (4) years in clinical nursing related to the OR, with four (4) years in management, supervisory, or leadership roles.
- Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, with a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Nursing.
- Licenses/Certifications:
- Registered Nurse License (California) required at hire.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required at hire.
Additional Requirements:
- Strong interpersonal communication and leadership skills.
- ACLS or PALS certification may be required, depending on the department.
- Ability to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
- National Certification in the specialty preferred within 1 year of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two (2) years of management experience preferred.
- Experience managing in a bargaining environment preferred.
- Five (5) years of recent experience managing the Main OR within the last 7 years preferred.
