Virtus Healthcare Staffing is seeking a dedicated and experienced Respiratory Care Practitioner (RRT) to join a leading Level I Pediatric Trauma Center in San Diego, CA. Provide Expert Respiratory Care in a Top-Tier Children's Hospital
As a Respiratory Care Practitioner, you will provide comprehensive respiratory care across multiple ICUs, including the Level IV NICU, Level I PICU, and Cardiothoracic ICU, ensuring the highest quality of care for pediatric patients.
Comprehensive Description:
You will be responsible for delivering advanced respiratory therapies, including trach and vent management, suctioning, and oxygen administration, to a diverse range of pediatric patients. Your expertise will be vital in supporting critically ill children in a fast-paced and challenging environment. This position requires a strong pediatric ICU skill set and the ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive respiratory care to pediatric patients across at least two of the three ICUs (NICU, PICU, CTICU).
- Perform advanced respiratory therapies, including trach and vent management, suctioning, and oxygen administration.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Monitor patient conditions and respond appropriately to changes in respiratory status.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care.
- Adhere to safety and infection control protocols.
Qualifications:
- Education: Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
- Licensure: Current California RCP License.
- Certifications: RRT national credential required; RRT-NPS preferred, BLS, PALS, NRP (AHA) – Must be Advanced.
- Experience: 1 year of Trauma Level 1 experience/NICU Level 4 (can be at a mixed adult/peds facility, children's hospital preferred; will consider NICU level 3 with 2 years standalone peds experience, case by case).
Shift Details:
- Night shifts (3×12, 4×12, or 36/48 alternating).
- Weekend Requirements: 4 weekend shifts per 4-week period (2 full weekends).
Additional Information:
- Level I Pediatric Trauma Center.
- 504-bed pediatric hospital.
- Level IV NICU, Level I PICU, and Cardiothoracic ICU.
- NO SCHEDULING REQUESTS ALLOWED.
- Locals accepted at travel bill rate.
- Pending State License accepted.
- RTO Restrictions: 6 days max.
- Guaranteed Hours: hours are guaranteed after the call-off policy has been met.
- Flu shot required.
- Scrub Color: Any color (but not black, ED is black).
- Charting: Epic.
- Modules: NOT billable.
- Parking Cost: Free traveler parking.

- COVID-19 Vaccine (Facility Guideline): Not Required.
- Flu Vaccine (Facility Guideline): Required – No Exemptions.
