Virtus Healthcare Staffing is seeking an experienced and passionate Registered Nurse to lead the Surgical Services department at our partner medical center in Portland, OR. This is an outstanding opportunity to manage a dynamic team and contribute to the delivery of high-quality surgical care.

Lead the Way in Surgical Services

As the RN – Manager of Surgical Services, you will oversee the daily operations of the surgical department, ensuring efficient workflow, optimal resource utilization, and adherence to the highest standards of patient care. You will lead and mentor a team of nurses and surgical technicians, fostering a culture of collaboration, respect, and clinical excellence.

Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Management:
    • Provide leadership and direction to the surgical services team.
    • Oversee the daily operations of the surgical department.
    • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards.
    • Manage and mentor nursing staff.
    • Participate in the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of new staff members.
  • Clinical Expertise:
    • Maintain a high level of clinical competency in surgical nursing.
    • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals.
    • Implement evidence-based practices to enhance patient care.
    • Monitor patient outcomes and identify areas for improvement.
  • Quality and Safety:
    • Develop and implement quality assurance programs.
    • Promote a culture of safety.
    • Monitor patient safety indicators and implement corrective actions.
  • Financial Management:
    • Manage the surgical department’s budget.
    • Monitor expenses and identify opportunities for cost savings.
  • Communication and Collaboration:
    • Establish and maintain effective communication channels.
    • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals.
    • Communicate effectively with patients and their families.

Qualifications:

  • Education and Licensure:
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing required.
    • Current Oregon Registered Nurse License required.
    • BLS certification from the American Heart Association required.
  • Experience:
    • Must have recent first-line management experience.
    • 3 years of clinical experience in surgical services required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing or a related field.
  • Strong clinical skills and in-depth knowledge of surgical nursing practices.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
