Senior Nuclear Medicine Technologist – R.T.(R)(N)(ARRT)

Virtus Healthcare Staffing is seeking an experienced and dedicated Senior Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our partner, a leading healthcare provider in Mission Viejo, CA.

Provide Expert Nuclear Medicine Imaging at a Leading Level II Trauma Center

As a Senior Nuclear Medicine Technologist, you will perform and document a variety of nuclear medicine procedures, contributing to the diagnostic capabilities of a dynamic pediatric Level II Trauma Center.

Position Summary:

The Senior Nuclear Medicine Technologist will perform and document a variety of nuclear medicine procedures, both invasive and non-invasive, on patients of all ages. This role requires a strong understanding of nuclear medicine principles, imaging techniques, and patient safety. The technologist will work under minimal supervision and will play a key role in supporting the supervisor and radiologist in maintaining an efficient and effective Nuclear Medicine department.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform a variety of nuclear medicine procedures, including planar, SPECT, and PET imaging.
  • Administer radiopharmaceuticals to patients according to established protocols.
  • Acquire and process images using specialized equipment and software.
  • Ensure proper patient positioning and safety during procedures.
  • Maintain accurate and complete patient records.
  • Adhere to all safety and radiation protection protocols.
  • Collaborate with physicians, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals to provide optimal patient care.
  • Support the supervisor and radiologist in departmental operations.
  • Promote positive working relationships with patients, families, and colleagues.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree in Nuclear Medicine or equivalent education/experience.
  • Coursework/Training and participation in a continuing education program.
  • One of the following certifications upon hire:
    • National Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) – Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB)
    • National Registered Technologist – Nuclear Medicine Technology (NRT-NMT)
  • California Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification upon hire.
  • National Provider BLS – American Heart Association certification upon hire.
  • 1 year of experience as a technologist in nuclear medicine in a hospital setting and/or Imaging Center.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 years of experience as a technologist in nuclear medicine in a hospital setting and/or Imaging Center.
