Surgical Technician – General Surgery

Virtus Healthcare Staffing is searching for a dedicated and skilled Surgical Technician to join our partner's General Surgery team in Sierra Vista, AZ. Position Summary

As a Surgical Technician, you are a crucial member of the operating room team, directly supporting the surgeon and other medical staff. Your primary responsibility is to facilitate a seamless surgical procedure by preparing the operating suite, managing equipment and supplies, and assisting the surgical team with patient preparation and care. This role requires decisive judgment and the ability to work with a high degree of precision in a stressful environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare the surgical operating suite with drapes, solutions, instruments, equipment, and supplies.

• Ensure all equipment and instruments are in good working order before and during the procedure.

• Assist with preparing, transporting, positioning, and draping patients.

• Pass instruments and supplies to the physician during surgery.

• Continually account for the number and location of instruments and supplies to ensure patient safety.

• Receive and process specimens for delivery to the laboratory.

• Maintain a comprehensive understanding of healthcare regulatory and compliance (e.g., HIPAA) and exhibit a strong knowledge of policies and procedures.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Education: A High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred. You must have successfully completed a Surgical Tech Program.

• Experience: A minimum of 6 months of experience is required.

• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within one month of your hire date.

• Required Skills: This role requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
