This past week the Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SIIM) held its annual meeting in Pittsburgh, and we posted extensive reporting on the conference. Of particular interest to readers was a conversation between Jason Funderburk, MD, deputy national coordinator for health IT at the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC), and incoming SIIM board chair Alex Tobin, MD, about image-sharing barriers, information blocking, AI governance, and the future of health technology policy.
Our second most-clicked story was another discussion at SIIM 2026, this time led by outgoing board chair Nabile Safdar, MD, regarding the rapid growth of AI in imaging. In third place was a story on whether the radiologist job shortage is real, while in the fourth and fifth spots were articles on the conference keynote delivered by Tessa Cook, MD, PhD, about the quality management needed for successful use of AI in imaging and a story on the benefits of interactive multimedia reporting.
