Hyperfine touts clinical results for Swoop MRI system

Hyperfine is highlighting a study performed by researchers at the Johns Hopkins Hospital and the University of Texas Health Houston that used the Swoop portable MRI system for patients on extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) support.

The study was published in the September issue of Circulation. It evaluated the safety of using ultralow-field portable MRI on patients in cardiac intensive care units (ICUs) undergoing ECMO and investigated the frequency of acute brain injury.

The researchers found that the technology allows for clinically meaningful, sensitive imaging in complex clinical settings, such as ICUs.

In light of the results, Hyperfine recommends that institutions ensure the safe use of ECMO systems when used within the Swoop system’s five-gauss line.
