Regional Director, Diagnostic Imaging (Multi-Campus)

Location: Turlock, CA

Position Summary:

Virtus Healthcare Staffing is seeking an experienced and visionary Regional Director of Diagnostic Imaging to join our esteemed partner, a leading healthcare system with a long-standing tradition of serving communities in California's Central Valley. This pivotal leadership role, reporting to executive leadership at both facilities, is responsible for the strategic direction, operational excellence, and integration of all Diagnostic Imaging services across two hospital campuses located in the Turlock and Manteca areas. The Regional Director will champion a culture of quality, safety, and patient-centered care, while driving efficiency, staff development, and the expansion of imaging capabilities to meet community needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership & Service Line Development:
    • Develop and implement a unified imaging vision and strategic plan for both hospital campuses, aligning with organizational goals.
    • Standardize clinical protocols, define service-line objectives, and establish key quality and performance metrics across all imaging modalities.
    • Collaborate on strategic initiatives, capital planning, and technology acquisition to expand imaging capabilities and community outreach.
  • Operational Management & Efficiency (Multi-Campus):
    • Direct all daily operations of Diagnostic Imaging services, ensuring optimal alignment of staffing, equipment, and supplies to meet productivity, patient throughput, and financial benchmarks while controlling costs.
    • Oversee PACS performance, ensure database integrity, and optimize physician access and workflow.
  • Staff Leadership & Development:
    • Recruit, hire, coach, mentor, and schedule multidisciplinary imaging teams (technologists, nurses, support staff).
    • Hold full authority for performance management, policy enforcement, and disciplinary actions in accordance with organizational standards.
    • Foster a positive, collaborative, and high-performing team environment.
  • Quality, Safety, Compliance & Accreditation:
    • Champion a culture of continuous quality improvement, patient safety, and regulatory compliance across all imaging services.
    • Develop and oversee Quality Assurance (QA) programs, lead incident investigations, and ensure ongoing readiness for accreditation (e.g., The Joint Commission, ACR).
    • Provide and facilitate clinical education for staff; may serve as a clinical instructor as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Associate's (A.S.) or Bachelor's (B.S.) degree in Radiologic Technology, Healthcare Administration, Business, or a closely related field, or equivalent combination of education and extensive experience.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive experience in Diagnostic Imaging or a closely related healthcare field.
    • Minimum of five (5) years of direct management/leadership experience within a hospital-based Diagnostic Imaging department, preferably overseeing multiple modalities and/or sites.
  • Licensure/Certification: Current California Certification in Radiology Technology (CRT) is required.
  • Skills: Proven leadership abilities, strong operational and financial acumen, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to drive change and implement strategic initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (e.g., Master's in Healthcare Administration, MBA).
  • Certification as a Radiology Administrator (CRA).
  • Experience managing imaging services across multiple hospital campuses.
  • ARRT registration in one or more imaging modalities.
