Director of Acute Care Services
Location: Missoula, MT
Virtus Healthcare Staffing is seeking a dedicated and experienced Director of Acute Care Services to join our partner medical facility in Missoula, MT. This leadership role requires a strong clinical background, exceptional management skills, and a passion for providing high-quality patient care in a dynamic acute care setting.
Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Management:
- Provide strategic direction and oversight for the Acute Care Services department, ensuring efficient operations, optimal resource utilization, and adherence to regulatory standards.
- Oversee daily operations, ensuring efficient workflow, resource allocation, and adherence to policies and procedures.
- Foster a positive and supportive work environment, encouraging teamwork and collaboration.
- Clinical Expertise:
- Maintain a strong clinical knowledge base and stay abreast of the latest advancements in acute care nursing practices and technologies.
- Ensure the team is equipped with the necessary skills to provide top-notch care.
- Participate in clinical care as needed, serving as a resource and mentor to the team.
- Quality and Safety:
- Champion quality improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance patient safety and satisfaction.
- Monitor key performance indicators and proactively address any areas of concern.
- Collaboration:
- Foster strong relationships with physicians, other departments, and stakeholders to ensure seamless patient care and organizational success.
- Act as a liaison between the unit and other areas of the hospital.
- Staff Development and Education:
- Oversee the development and implementation of staff education and orientation programs.
- Work with the Acute Care Manager to ensure adequate staffing levels are maintained for each unit/shift.
- Assist in the interview and hiring process, as well as the employee annual evaluation process.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing or an eligible license in the state of Montana is required.
- Master's degree in Nursing, Business, or Leadership/Management preferred.
- Experience:
- 5 years of experience as an Acute Care Clinical Leader.
- Experience as a Unit Level Director strongly preferred.
- Competency as an RN for Med/Surg or ICU.
- 2 years of experience as a bedside RN.
- Demonstrated success with tabulating, collaborative work with physicians, project management, and process improvement projects.
- Experience with a team with a variety of skill levels, including new graduate RNs.
- Experience with Electronic Medical Records.
- Licensure/Certification:
- Current RN license in the state of Montana.
- BLS, ACLS, and ONS certification required within 3 months of hire.
- Certification in a relevant specialty preferred.

- Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Excellent written and oral communication, presentation, and computer skills.
