Director of Acute Care Services

Location: Missoula, MT

Virtus Healthcare Staffing is seeking a dedicated and experienced Director of Acute Care Services to join our partner medical facility in Missoula, MT. This leadership role requires a strong clinical background, exceptional management skills, and a passion for providing high-quality patient care in a dynamic acute care setting.

Responsibilities:

• Leadership and Management:
  • Provide strategic direction and oversight for the Acute Care Services department, ensuring efficient operations, optimal resource utilization, and adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Oversee daily operations, ensuring efficient workflow, resource allocation, and adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Foster a positive and supportive work environment, encouraging teamwork and collaboration.
• Clinical Expertise:
  • Maintain a strong clinical knowledge base and stay abreast of the latest advancements in acute care nursing practices and technologies.
  • Ensure the team is equipped with the necessary skills to provide top-notch care.
  • Participate in clinical care as needed, serving as a resource and mentor to the team.
• Quality and Safety:
  • Champion quality improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance patient safety and satisfaction.
  • Monitor key performance indicators and proactively address any areas of concern.
• Collaboration:
  • Foster strong relationships with physicians, other departments, and stakeholders to ensure seamless patient care and organizational success.
  • Act as a liaison between the unit and other areas of the hospital.
• Staff Development and Education:
  • Oversee the development and implementation of staff education and orientation programs.
  • Work with the Acute Care Manager to ensure adequate staffing levels are maintained for each unit/shift.
  • Assist in the interview and hiring process, as well as the employee annual evaluation process.

Qualifications:

• Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or an eligible license in the state of Montana is required.
  • Master's degree in Nursing, Business, or Leadership/Management preferred.
• Experience:
  • 5 years of experience as an Acute Care Clinical Leader.
  • Experience as a Unit Level Director strongly preferred.
  • Competency as an RN for Med/Surg or ICU.
  • 2 years of experience as a bedside RN.
  • Demonstrated success with tabulating, collaborative work with physicians, project management, and process improvement projects.
  • Experience with a team with a variety of skill levels, including new graduate RNs.
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records.
• Licensure/Certification:
  • Current RN license in the state of Montana.
  • BLS, ACLS, and ONS certification required within 3 months of hire.
  • Certification in a relevant specialty preferred.
