Virtus Healthcare Staffing is seeking an experienced Surgery Center Administrator to oversee operations, staff, and clinical services in a dynamic ambulatory surgery center environment. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, financial performance, and the delivery of high-quality surgical care.
Job Summary
The Surgery Center Administrator will direct, coordinate, and control all aspects of daily operations. This includes staff management, business operations, financial oversight, compliance, quality improvement, and clinical services. The administrator plays a key role as a liaison between medical staff, governing boards, and all facility departments to maintain a culture of excellence in patient care and operational outcomes.
Operational Leadership
Oversee daily operations of the facility with a focus on efficiency and excellence in surgical services.
Act as liaison between Governing Board, Medical Staff, and departments.
Report facility performance and activities to leadership on a regular basis.
Plan and develop services to align with patient needs and surgical growth.
Business & Financial Management
Develop, monitor, and control staffing, operations budgets, and capital budgets.
Ensure compliance with purchasing policies and manage external contracts.
Establish pricing for procedures based on market and cost analysis.
Monitor financial performance to avoid cash flow issues.
Personnel Administration
Hire, train, and supervise exempt and non-exempt employees.
Conduct performance reviews and approve disciplinary actions.
Implement employee orientation, training, and professional development programs.
Foster a culture of collaboration, fairness, and positive customer relations.
Clinical & Quality Oversight
Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accrediting body standards.
Collaborate with the Medical Director on surgical program development.
Oversee clinical services, including nursing, central supply, records, and contracted services (lab, radiology, pharmaceuticals, biomedical, etc.).
Implement infection control and continuous quality improvement programs.
Identify and resolve quality care issues proactively.
Medical Staff & Community Relations
Oversee credentialing processes for practitioners.
Promote positive relationships with physicians, staff, and community partners.
Support marketing initiatives and develop strategies to expand surgical services.
Stay current on healthcare legislation, reimbursement models, and business practices.
Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field required (Master's preferred).
Minimum 3–5 years of healthcare management experience, preferably in a surgical or ambulatory setting.
Strong leadership, financial management, and compliance knowledge.
Proven ability to build collaborative relationships with physicians, staff, and leadership teams.
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
