Siemens Healthineers and the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center have entered into a 10-year, $105 million agreement to collaborate on imaging technology for diagnosis and treatment of cancer, cardiac, and neurological conditions.
Under terms of the deal, Siemens will support the university's creation of a "center for imaging excellence" dedicated to translational research, the company said. The partnership will include equipment purchases and consulting services.
Siemens and Ohio State have been in partnership for more than 15 years. The collaboration has produced technology such as techniques for imaging cardiac function and blood flow, and methods to image the heart using a lower-cost, lower-field strength MRI scanner, Siemens said.
